RESPONSIBILITIES
Guiding and Guest Experience
- Ensure the safety and satisfaction of guests while providing them with unique safari experiences that are personalised to their interests.
To encourage guests to value nature, it is important to educate them thoroughly on animals, ecosystems, and conservation initiatives.
Create engaging and informative experiences for guests while maintaining a professional demeanour.
In a timely and effective manner, anticipate and resolve the requirements, preferences, and complaints of guests.
Experience with Wilderness and Wildlife
Be well-versed on the flora, animals, and geology of famous areas like the Serengeti, Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro, and any other park in southern Tanzania.
Keep yourself apprised of ongoing conservation initiatives and impart pertinent knowledge to visitors.
Driving and Vehicle Management
- Drive safari vehicles safely across varied landscapes in accordance with all applicable traffic and corporate policies.
Verify the vehicle’s functionality and safety features before setting off on the safari.
Please promptly inform management of any mechanical faults or damages and ensure they are documented.
Professional Conduct and Presentation
- Always maintain a high standard of personal grooming and presentation.
- Uphold a positive self-image that reflects Asilia’s values and ethos.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a supportive and efficient team environment.
Emergency Preparedness and First Aid
- Be trained and certified in basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Act swiftly and appropriately during medical emergencies or safety incidents in remote wilderness areas.
- Ensure guest safety and provide clear instructions in case of emergencies, such as animal encounters or vehicle breakdowns.
Cultural and Community Engagement
- Educate guests about the local communities, cultures, and traditions of the areas visited.
- Serve as an ambassador for Asilia’s positive impact initiatives, promoting respectful and meaningful cultural exchanges.
Environmental Conservation and Awareness
- Actively promote and practice eco-friendly and sustainable safari practices, such as minimizing waste and respecting wildlife.
- Participate in Asilia’s conservation projects and educate guests on the importance of preserving the ecosystems they explore
Working as a relief guide
The role is based in Arusha
The relief safari operations guide will drive the available vehicle, based on operational needs.
No specific vehicle will be assigned to this role
If a specific language is requested, a guide may be assigned to that safari.
When necessary, a guide may assist with guiding duties within the camp.
When necessary, a guide may assist with transfers.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years as a professional safari guide, with a proven track record of guiding in Tanzania’s top wilderness areas, including Serengeti, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Manyara, and any other park in southern Tanzania.
Language Proficiency:
Fluent in English and at least one other foreign language, such as German (most preferred), French, Spanish (most preferred), Chinese, Portuguese, or other foreign language.
Driving Skills:
Possession of a valid Class C driving license with strong off-road driving capabilities.
Personality and Interpersonal Skills:
Outgoing, enthusiastic, and approachable personality with a strong ability to connect with guests.
Teamwork:
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with peers and contribute to a cohesive team environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive knowledge of wildlife and ecosystems, coupled with exceptional guiding and storytelling abilities.
Professionalism:
Presentable appearance and strong self-image aligned with Asilia’s brand and values.

Verify the vehicle’s functionality and safety features before setting off on the safari.
If you see any damage or mechanical concerns, please notify management right away and keep detailed records.
Presenting Oneself in a Professional Manner
Keep up a consistent level of impeccable personal hygiene and presentation at all times.
Always remember to hold yourself in a good light, reflecting the ideals and culture of Asilia.
Collaborate with coworkers to create a positive and productive team atmosphere.
First Aid and Emergency Planning
Get your first aid and CPR certifications and further your education in these areas.
In isolated wilderness locations, respond quickly and appropriately to medical crises or safety incidents.
In the event of an emergency, such as an encounter with an animal or a car breakdown, make sure that guests are safe and provide them clear instructions.
Community and Cultural Involvement
Inform visitors about the history, customs, and culture of the places they visit.
Promote mutually beneficial cross-cultural understanding as an advocate for Asilia’s impact programs.
Environmental Protection and Sustainability Education
Minimise waste and show respect for wildlife as part of your eco-friendly and sustainable safari operations.
Help out with conservation efforts on Asilia and talk to visitors about how important it is to keep the ecosystems they visit intact.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Experienced safari guide with a minimum of 10 years of successful guiding in some of Tanzania’s most renowned wilderness locations, such as the Serengeti, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Manyara, or any park in the southern region of the country.
Language Proficiency:
- Ability to communicate well in English and another foreign language; desirable languages include German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, or another foreign language.
Driving Skills:
- Must have excellent off-road driving skills and a current Class C driving licence.
Personality and Interpersonal Skills: Capable of forming deep connections with guests; outgoing, energetic, and personable.
Worked well with others and contributed to a harmonious team atmosphere; displayed strong teamwork skills.
Abilities: Superb storytelling and directing skills, as well as in-depth understanding of ecosystems and species.
Professionalism: Keeping one’s personal and professional image in line with Asilia’s brand and principles; attractive and confident.
